When you’re a married cop trying to carry on an affair during a work shift, you’ve got to be creative and smart. Ocoee Police Officer Shaun Whiting was creative, but maybe not smart.

Whiting, a decorated four-year veteran of the force with two school-age children, was forced to resign from the department after authorities discovered that he’d started an extramarital affair with a woman he’d met on a police call.

To keep the dalliance secret from their spouses, they planned sex meetups at hotels and empty police substations while Whiting was on duty. To keep it secret from his employers, he arranged for his mistress to make a quick distress call to 911, which he would then answer alone and sexily, according to Orlando’s WFTV:

Documents say that Whiting, who is married, met the woman on a call for service at a grocery store. The report says the two began exchanging emails and started talking.

The woman later told police she booked a hotel room and told the officer to come by while on-duty.

But since Whiting had to be accounted for, the woman claimed he told her to call 911 and hang up. The report shows the officer was then dispatched to the hotel so he could carry out the affair.

But things apparently didn’t end there, the documents say.

According to documents, the woman later requested a ride-along with Whitiing, and the department approved it.

Investigators said the two rode around together and eventually ended up at a police substation, where the woman performed a sex act on Whiting during work hours while he was in uniform.

Whiting’s paramour was also married, and her husband reportedly told police about the affair, setting an internal affairs investigation into motion. Whiting quit last summer to avoid the affair becoming public, but Florida’s top police watchdog started an investigation of its own, which is how documentation of his case was unearthed by the media. State investigators could revoke Whiting’s law enforcement certification, effectively ending any hopes of him ever working as a cop again.
